Souvenir
One souvenir set of salt and pepper shakers which commemorate the visit of the Royal Yacht, Brittania, for the official opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway by President Eisenhower and Queen Elizabeth II on June 26, 1959. The shakers are made of china in a bone/ivory color and are shaped like miniature covered tankards. Narrow gold-colored stripes encircle each shaker near the top and above the base. The royal insignia is shown on the front with black text that reads "St. Lawrence Seaway, 1959." A black silhouette drawing of the royal yacht is shown on the opposite side with black text that reads "H.M.Y. Brittania," Corked openings are located on the underside of each shaker along with gold-colored text that reads "01, Curated by Monogram of Edwards," and "U.S. Origin."
