Statue
One small statue (broken) of a young female figure which was salvaged from the center of a fountain that was located in the Graystone Ballroom, Detroit. The hollow statue was cast in non-reinforced concrete and depicts a young nude woman who is seated on rock and is holding a large oyster half shell on top of her head. The exterior surfaces have a smooth finish and have been painted in a turquoise color. It appears that a coating of semi-gloss clear acrylic or similar sealer has been applied over the paint. The hollow interior is rough and unpainted. A 0.5-inch diameter lead pipe (broken) is located inside the statue and supplies water to the top of the oyster half shell which then falls over the edge of the shell onto the statue.
