Stein
One beer stein made by the J. W. [Johann Wilhelm] Remy factory of Hohr, Germany. The stein is made of glazed ceramic pottery with straight sides that taper outward slightly to form a base that is wider than the top. The tall stein has a thin, rounded top rim, a decorative pewter hinged lid, and a rounded handle at the side. The side opposite the handle shows an elaborate colorful relief image that depicts a tavern scene. Adjacent matching relief images show urns with decorative leaf/floral designs. Decorative multi-color bands of scrollwork and floral designs are located below the top rim and above the base. Stamped text near the top of the handle reads "0.5L [liter]." The underside is stamped with the number, "524," and "Germany." The manufacturer's mark is not visible. The number, "524," is the catalog number for the stein design, "Tavern Scene."
