Stein

One beer stein made of light gray glazed ceramic pottery. The tall, straight sides are tapered to form a base that is slightly wider than the top. The stein has a thin, rounded rim at the top, a decorative pewter hinged lid, and a curved handle at the side. The sides are decorated with red/blue incised and raised designs and a Roman-style figure of a woman who is gathering fruit from an overhead vine-covered arbor. Blue incised text reads "Trinke Immer Brau u. Fest [Always drink uprightly and firmly]," and "Erst die Blume, Dann den Rest [First the flower, then the rest]." The underside is stamped with the number, "70." No manufacturer's name or marks are visible.
