Stein

One beer stein made by the Rosskopf & Gerz factory of Hohr, Germany. The tall stein is made of partially-glazed ceramic pottery with sides that curve outward slightly to form a base that is wider that the top. The stein has a thin, rounded top rim, a decorative pewter hinged lid, and a decorative tall handle at the side. The sides show a raised multi-color image of a man bidding farewell to two women. Houses can be seen along narrow roads in the background and tall mountains are visible in the far background. Small incised black German text beneath the three people reads "Abschied [Farewell]." Stamped text near the top of the handle reads "1L [liter]." The underside is stamped with the numbers, "320," and "0." The number, "320," is the catalog number for the stein design, "Farewell."
