Stein

One beer stein made of light gray glazed ceramic pottery. The tall, straight sides are tapered to form a base that is slightly wider than the top. The stein has a thin, rounded rim at the top, a decorative flat pewter/ceramic hinged lid, and a curved handle at the side. The sides are decorated with three raised images which depict medieval beer drinking scenes of mirth and merriment. The scenes closest to the handle are identical. A band of narrow diagonal lines encircles the base. A white porcelain disc at the center of the lid has a multi-color floral border and black German fraktur text at the center that reads "Aus Gersten u. Hopfen braue ich. O du mein Liebchen komm u. trinke mit mir. [From barley and hops, I brew beer. O you my love, come and drink with me.]" No manufacturer's name or marks are visible.
