Stool, Dressing

One stool from the Red Wings locker room at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The sturdy stool is made of two 1.5-inch thick rectangular composite wood boards that have been cut and assembled perpendicularly to form an interlocking base. The composite wood boards are covered with a light, fine-grained wood veneer (probably birch) with maple trim strips on the outside edges. The wood has been finished with a clear low-gloss lacquer. A circular, 3-inch thick, foam-padded seat has been attached to the base with small metal flanges and wood screws. The seat covering material consists of a dark red vinyl surface that has been bonded to a fabric base. No manufacturer's names or marks are visible.
