Suit

One lady's two-piece suit made of wool broadcloth in a royal purple color. The jacket has a wide, multi-layer collar which consists of an upright band of fabric at the neck and a pointed collar that is trimmed with white lace and narrow strips of brown fur along the edges. The collar includes two underlying layers of fabric that extend beyond the fur trim and onto the shoulders. These additional collar layers are split at the back and hang at the sides of the bodice in front. The edges are trimmed with light blue satin and three lines of thin, off-white cord that have been sewn on top. Four small applique flowers are sewn at the lower ends of the collar layers in front and also at the back Four small square brass buttons are sewn on top of the shoulders (two on each side) The front has a V-shaped white satin panel that is finished with white lace on top and is held in place with hook/eye closures along the edges. A decorative waistband with hook/eye closures on one side is located beneath the white satin front panel. Ten small rectangular brass buttons are sewn on the sides of the waistband piece (five on each side). The full skirt is unlined, has a slight train, has snaps and hook/eye closures at the front, and four shoulder strap ties. A band of trim is located down the center front and along the hemline which matches the trim on the collar. Also one large applique flower is sewn near the front hemline which matches the design of the collar appliques.
