Suit
One lady's two-piece suit in amethyst-colored velveteen and purple wool broadcloth. The amethyst-colored velveteen jacket has a fitted bodice with interior stays, a high collar, puffed shoulders, leg-o-mutton sleeves, metal snaps as well as hook/eye closures down the center front, and a dark purple silk lining. The jacket front and back are pleated from the shoulders to the waist and are trimmed with strips of jet beading. The sleeves are also trimmed with matching strips of jet beading as well as velveteen pom-poms (two on each sleeve) located just above the elbow. A label on the inside waistband reads "Doucet, 21 Rue de la Paix, Paris." The full skirt is made of purple wool broadcloth in two tiers (one ending at mid-calf) and each is edged with brown fur (possibly mink). The skirt is gathered in the back and has a cummerbund at the waist with hook/eye closures as well as a sash down the left front that ends in a long fringe of black jet beads. A purple taffeta underskirt is included which has a pleated ruffle at the bottom. In addition, a small muff is included that is made of the same material as the waist and has a matching band of fur around the center. A jet buckle holds folds of cloth.
