One luggage tag and corresponding claim tag from the passenger steamship, SS GREATER DETROIT, of the Detroit & Cleveland Navigation Company (D&C Line). The tag assembly consists of a pair of numbered circular brass tags with one tag attached to a leather strap and the other being removable. The strap has a slit near one which allows it to be looped around the handle on a piece of checked luggage. The removable tag would be given to the customer as a claim tag. Both tags are stamped with black text that reads "D. & C. N. Co., Stmr. Greater Detroit, Parcel Check, 195," but the claim tag has additional text that reads "To Be Called For On Steamer." No manufacturer's name or marks are shown.
