Tin

One cigar tin from the "Dime Bank" of Detroit. The tin is made of thin sheets of brass-plated steel that have been bent and crimped at the edges to form a rectangular box that has a hinged lid on top. The exterior top lid has a large black, oval-shaped, decorative design and large black text that reads "Dime Bank." The exterior edges are decorated with repeating design that features the name, "Dime Bank," in small black text. The inside surface of the lid is painted pale yellow and features an image of the Dime Bank Building in Detroit along with the name, "Dime Bank," in large black and gold-colored letters. The cigar price of 5¢ (marked down from 10¢) is shown in the upper left corner. The interior surface of the box has a brass finish. Black printed text on the exterior bottom of the box reads "Factory No. 261, District of Michigan. Notice: The manufacturer of the cigars herein contained have complied with all the requirements of law. Every person is cautioned not to use this box for cigars again, or the stamp thereon again, nor remove the contents of this box without destroying said stamp under the penalties provided by law in such cases."
