Lehman "Hop-Hop" jumping toy. Flying-saucer shape and made of tin. Painted blue, white, and red, with blue and gold triangular design. Has gold painted coil spring that extends from center of bottom(?). Marked "Lehman Hop-Hop" and "Made in Germany" around rim of bottom. Inside this, there is a bell-shaped logo surrounded by "Marke / D-R G-M"; around the center is patent information, including a 1910 U.S. patent. Lettering around center of top reads: "G76 [676?] / Musterschutz."
According to the websie below (which includes illusrations), "these ingenious toys were made by Lehmann in Germany from 1913-45 .... It is comprised of two parts. The "/bolder head/" sits on top and is twisted to wind up a spring attached inside. Upon pushing a release button inside, the toy takes of spinning." The "bolder head" is missing from the one in our collection.
