Uniform, Military

One National League for Women's Service Motor Corps uniform of World War I. The 3-piece uniform is made of a heavyweight cotton khaki gabardine fabric in a drab green color. The pieces include:

1. One jacket having a collar and notched lapels, long sleeves without cuffs, breast pockets with button flaps, large side pockets with button flaps, a waistband with two belt loops at the back, four brass buttons down the center front, and a center back vent. The two breast pocket buttons are made of brass-plated steel which have a raised shield emblem at the center and raised text along the perimeter that reads "National League for Woman's Service." All of the other jacket buttons are made of brass and have a raised American Eagle emblem at the center.

2. One plain A-line skirt with reinforced waistband, six buttons down the center front, and front side pockets with button flaps. All of the buttons are made of brass and have a raised American Eagle emblem at the center.

3. One pair of puttees with waist adjustment tabs/buckles on each side, five belts loops, button fly, side pockets at the seams, one watch pocket at the right waist, one button pocket on the back right hip, and six pairs of metal eyelets for lacings at the bottom ends of the tapered trouser legs.

The jacket would have been worn with either the skirt or the puttees. No manufacturer's labels are shown on any of the pieces. One small label on the inside right armhole of the jacket shows "7911-T" and "BRAD."
