One woman's World War II "American Red Cross Motor Service" uniform. The uniform consists of a one-piece dress that is made of dark blue/gray wool. It has a pointed collar with short lapels, button epaulets on the shoulders, inside shoulder pads, five buttons down the center front, flap pockets with buttons on the left and right breasts, and flap pockets with buttons on the front of the skirt at the left and right sides. The plain skirt is slightly flared and has a hemline ending just below the knee. The left sleeve has a circular embroidered patch with a red/white cross at the center and red text along the perimeter that reads "American Red Cross Motor Service." A label on the inside back collar reads "KT, Lot 814/38, Size 16," and "Hannes Schneider Sports." A label on the inside right breast reads "Saks Fifth Avenue."
The uniform includes a folding side (garrison) cap that is made of the same wool fabric as the dress. It has green piping along the top edges of the side panels and a Red Cross metal pin at the front. The interior has a faded blue grosgrain ribbon headband and a faded blue satin/rayon lining. A label on the inside top of the cap reads "Saks Fifth Avenue."
