Yardstick

One wooden yardstick advertising "Gar Wood" (Gar Wood Industries) of Detroit. The yardstick is made from a fine-grained, light-colored wood rod that has a square cross-section. It is stamped with black ink on opposite sides in 1/8-inch increments from 0 to 36 inches. The other two opposite sides are stamped with black and red advertising text that reads "You Haul More Yards With Gar Wood" and "How Does Your Equipment Measure Up To Gar Wood." A leather hand strap is located in a 1/4-inch diameter hole at one end of the yardstick. The wood is finished with a clear lacquer or varnish that has yellowed with age.
