Zither
One zither. The instrument is made of fine-grained wood that has a reddish brown stain and has been finished with a low gloss lacquer or varnish. It has 29 metal strings. The strings are attached to the instrument with small loops over short nails at one end, and adjusting pegs at the other. A rectangular white adhesive label beneath the opening in the sound box reads "Oscar Lenzner, Sr., Cass City, Mich." A similar smaller label is attached on the bottom of the instrument. An accompanying typewritten card reads "Guitar - Zither - Autoharp - 2 Banjo Guitarinas made by Oscar Lenzner about 1885. Loaned by Mrs. Samuel Lenzner."
