Carte de visite bearing a sepia-toned head-and-shoulder portrait photograph of Sarah [Sears] Allen (Mrs. R.W. Allen), grandmother of donor's husband, wearing a black dress, beaded necklace, dangle earrings, and long braided and curled hair resting on her left shoulder. "Excelsior Gallery, 173 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Mich. Van Deusen, Artist," is printed, and "Mrs. R.W. Allen," is handwritten on the verso. The photographer was located next door to her Mrs. R.W. Allen's Hair Goods Shop.
