Carte de visite bearing a sepia-toned photo of a military funeral procession taken from above street level of the north side of Jefferson Avenue east of Woodward Avenue. A crowd is gathered in the streets among horse-drawn carriages, and a group of uniformed figures are marching in formation along Jefferson. Near the center of the procession is a casket being pulled by a team of white horses. A sign for Bryant and Stratton's Mercantile College is posted on the Merrill Block on the left. "Auction Commission!" is painted on the side of a building further down Jefferson. The caption, "Cor. Jefferson & Woodward Ave. Detroit," is handwritten along the bottom edge of the card. The mark of photographer J.J. Bardwell of Detroit is printed on the verso.
