Digital scan of a black and white photo taken one of the tube segments which were assembled to form the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, under construction on the riverfront of Ojibway, Ontario. Several workers are climbing on the structure. A caption included with the photo read:

Tube Segment Under Construction. Nine steel tubes comprising the subaqueous segment of the Tunnel were erected on the shores of Ojibway, Ontario, about six miles downstream from the Tunnel location. Each tube had a diameter of 31 feet and was composed of steel plate 3/8" thick reinforced at 12-foot intervals by octagonal diaphragms which also provided support for timber forms for an exterior concrete jacket. Interior concrete lining and the roadway concrete was poured after the tubes were launched and towed to a fitting-up slip not far from the construction site. Final exterior concreting took place after the tubes had been towed upstream to a point about 300 feet beyond the prepared trench.
