Black and white negative film taken at the 1966 Gold Cup Race, held July 3rd and 4th on the Detroit River, of preliminary heat action. Pictured is SMIRNOFF, driven by Chuck Thompson, receiving the checkered flag. SMIRNOFF won her first two preliminary heats, but was destroyed in heat 3A, fatally injuring her driver.
