Black and white negative of the pits at the foot of Burns Avenue used for the hydroplane races on the Detroit River. Several limited class hydroplanes can be seen. A boat in the foreground from which the picture was taken was probably an official's boat. The name on the hydroplane at the right can be seen as COUNT CHRISTY and the number N-8. The Berman Apartments, the Detroit Towers, a building under construction to the east of Detroit Towers, and the Whittier Hotel stand along the riverfront in the background.
