Negative, Film

Negative. Black and white negative of a print which shows Joe Louis at a large banquet dinner that was held in his honor. The view from the stage overlooks the crowd that is seated on the main floor of the hall. Joe Louis can be seen in an Army uniform near the lower left corner of the photo near the middle of the first row of diners. Some banquet tables appear to be set on the upper level although only one person is seated on that level in the back of the hall. Printed text in the lower right corner shows "Testimonial Dinner in Honor of Joe Louis, Sponsored by the Reveille Club of N.Y." and "Held at Manhattan Odd Fellows Temple, May 21, 1942." A circular printed stamp in the lower right corner shows "Liberty Flashlight Co., 165 W. 48 St." and "American Fed. of Photographers Union Local 21314."
