The vessel is underway (downbound) on the Detroit River in fair weather. The Canadian shoreline is visible in the left background and the Michigan shoreline is visible in the upper right corner. The stern portion of the upbound steamship, SS William P. Palmer, can be seen at the far left side of the photo. Another upbound steamship can be seen in the distance although the name of this vessel is unreadable.
