Negative, Glass-plate
Negative, glass-plate. Monochromatic glass-plate negative from the studio of Louis James Pesha depicting the port side of the Pittsburgh Steamship Company freighter SIR WILLIAM FAIRBAIRN, under steam. Figures are visible on board around the pilot house, mast, and aft cabin. A line extends off frame from the stern of the freighter, suggesting that it is tugging something. A small boat is faintly visible on the left edge of the image. A tree-lined shoreline is visible in the background. "Before 1915" was handwritten on the non-archival envelope which previous held the plate.
