Negative, Glass-plate

Monochromatic glass-plate negative from the studio of Louis James Pesha depicting the bow and port side of the Pittsburgh Steamship Company freighter DOUGLASS HOUGHTON, under steam. A figure stands behind the center deck cabin while four others are around the aft cabin. A line extends from the stern of the HOUGHTON into the water, likely attached to a taffrail log. A tree-lined shoreline is visible in the background. "Rebuilt Pilot House," is printed on the non-archival envelope which previously held the plate.
