Monochromatic glass-plate negative from the studio of Louis James Pesha depicting the port side of the freighter GEORGE KING, under steam with a deck-load of coal. A figure stands in the doorway of the pilot house, while below a man rests his leg upon the railing. Three figures are on deck among the coal. Another person stands in the doorway of the aft cabin. The seventh visible person on board stands at the stern. A person in a small boat rows along the KING's port side. A line, possible attached to a taffrail log extends from the stern of the KING into the water. A tree-lined shoreline is visible in the background. The non-archival envelope which previously housed the plate included the following hand-written details:
