Negative, Glass-plate

Negative, glass-plate. Monochromatic glass-plate negative from the studio of Louis James Pesha depicting the port side of a two-masted, propellor-driven steamer, under steam with sailors lining its decks. The negative was originally packaged inside an envelope marked, "AMARANTH," but the curved bow and central pilot house don't match the Coast Guard vessel of that name. It more closely resembles the ESSEX
