Negative, glass-plate. Monochromatic glass-plate negative from the studio of Louis James Pesha depicting the port side of the Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company freighter CADILLAC. Several crew members are on deck. A small rowboat is in the foreground. A tree-lined shoreline is visible in the background.
Original non-archival envelope included the handwritten note, "July 1943- Renamed CHACORNAC when replace by a new "CADILLAC" built by U.S. Maritime Commission. Named for a famous race horse a 2 yr. old that won the Belmont Stakes in 1899. Horse was named for a famous French scientist."
