Negative, Glass-plate

JOLIET Entering River St Clair

Monochromatic glass-plate negative from the studio of Louis James Pesha depicting the port side of the Pittsburgh Steamship Company freighter JOLIET, under steam on the St. Clair River. A figure stands on deck near the bow. Several buildings along a tree-lined shoreline are visible in the background. "Sunk in collision Sept. 22, 1911 in St. Clair River with HENRY PHIPPS," was handwritten on the non-archival envelope which previously held the plate.
