Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display for the Third War Loan Drive at the J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Signage affixed to the rear of the display is flanked by two American flags and features two ladies, one whom is purchasing war bonds from a man, and reads, "The Third War Loan Drive is Under Way, Buy Your Extra War Bonds From Volunteer Gallants! The Third War Loan will be the biggest war financing job ever undertaken in the history of the world! Every employed person in American is expected during the month of September to subscribe for at least one extra $100 War Savings Bond in addition to his or her regular purchases of Bonds. This means that we all have to pull our belts tighter, go without things we may want, dip into savings or surplus to produce the money. We must back the attack - back the invasion - invest everything humanly possible for Victory! We cannot fail! We must win now! Let's do our part proudly, promptly and with enthusiastic determination to see this thing through to the finish! (Hundreds of employees of the Hudson store have volunteered as Volunteer-Gallants. They will be happy to take your order for War Bonds or tell you how to become a Gallant in your neighborhood.) Back the Third War Loan to the Limit! The J.L. Hudson Company." Six smaller signs surround the larger one, each noting how the Gallant Volunteer, or War Loan will help with the war effort. Signage affixed to the lower central foreground of the window reads, "Buy U.S. War Savings Bonds, Immediate deliver WAR BONDS, 11th Floor, Woodward, Section D." The photographic sequence number, date, and photographer's name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "18870-13x; 9-2-43; Davis B. Hillmer."
