Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display at the J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. A large Mercator projection map is affixed to the rear wall of the display; stars with large pieces of ribbon are attached to the map and lead toward a United States Post Office box. The image of a general infantry soldier holding a letter, with a banner that reads, "MAIL!" is visible in the lower left corner. Signage adjacent to the map, opposing the mail box reads, "TO BE SURE V MAIL Is the Only Safe, Sure Way of reaching your boy overseas, of more than 75 million letters addressed to men overseas, Not a single one has been lost. Beyond the control of the post office or Army postal service many millions of letters have been lost through enemy action and the senders rarely know that such letters were not received. V-Mail is the only Sure way!" Affixed to the bottom central foreground of the window is a sign which reads, "Buy U.S. War Savings Bonds, Immediate Delivery, WAR BONDS, 11th Floor, Woodward, Section D." The date and photographic sequence number are printed on the bottom of the image, "9-23-43; 18881-x."
