Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display at J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Mother and child mannequins stand at a mail box, the mother appears to be putting a letter inside. A large Mercator map is affixed to the rear wall, the map features small cards with cities and the time it takes for mail to travel to a specified destination from San Francisco, Chicago or New York. The image of a GI is affixed above the map. Signage neighboring the map reads, "For the Boys Overseas, Second only to food in importance, good letters help to make good fighters. Our government wants you to use V-Mail - It's a system that telescopes days into hours and weeks into days. And remember - Cheery letters always!" Affixed to the bottom foreground of the window display, signage reads, "Buy U.S. War Savings Bonds, Immediate Delivery, WAR BONDS, 11th Floor, Woodward, Section D." The date, photographic sequence number and photographer's name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "8-23-43; 18868; Davis B. Hillmer."
