A large cartoon image of Adolf Hitler with tin cans tied to his ankles following troops whom also have cans tied to their ankles, is featured on the rear wall of kitchen with the caption, "Tie A Can to the Axis." Mother and daughter mannequins are also featured in the kitchen washing cans; signage adjacent to the mother reads, "Next Can Collection, Saturday March 13th." Instructions on how to clean and donate your cans follows. Smaller signage in the bottom right corner reads, "Tin and Its Uses, U.S.A. is the world's largest user of tin, (1941, Approximately 100,000 Gross Tons) Yet, we produce only 44 tons, mostly from Alaska. Total war production: normally 230,000 gross tons. 40% use of tin is for tin plate of this amount 90% (or 36% of the total) normally goes into tin cans. We used 17 billion tin coated cans in 1940... The modern soldier on the battlefield lives on canned food... Military uses of tin include: guns, gun mounts, tanks, ships, planes, gun carriages, rifles, ammunition, etc..."
