Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display at the J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. A woman is featured knitting while sitting in a rocking chair; images of son in military uniform are seen affixed to the wall above her head. Opposite the woman, on the left side of the window is the image of a young man praying, a soldier lies in bed while comrades observe. Signage at the top of the display reads, "...The War Bond is the tie between the fireside and the foxhole..." Also, signage between the two scenes reads, "Settings: Home Front, Over There; Time: Christmas 1944; Mother Remembers: Son's first Christmas, pay check - How Proud He Was! It was he who bought the right tree, gayest trimmings, and gifts for all. And now the Son Writes: Dear Mom, Keep your chin up - This time buy bonds for gifts so our next Christmas will be the merriest ever! Your devoted son, Bob 5th War Loan." The date, photographic sequence number and photographer's name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "11-24-44; 22005-14x; Davis B. Hillmer."
