Print. Black and white photographic print of an exhibition of the Ecclesiastical Arts Guild of Detroit at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Fine art in differing mediums is affixed to the walls and displayed throughout the galleries inside the department store. Signage on the left side of the entryway reads, "Ecclesiastical Arts Guild of Detroit, Founded in 1949, the Ecclesiastical Arts Guild of Detroit is an association for the promotion and appreciation of ecclesiastical art. Its membership is open to artists of all creeds who are interested in its aims. Created by its members, a reservoir of artistic talent is available to metropolitan Detroit. By "Ecclesiastical Art" is meant an art of religious sentiment and expression as it relates to the adornment of a place of religious worship as well as to the home. It includes all the arts needed to reflect these multifarious moods and needs. The Guild's Annual Exhibition is held to further a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary ecclesiastical art."
