Print. Black and white photographic print of the Cavalcade of Fashion window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store commemorating the 250th anniversary of the city of Detroit and Hudson's 70th year of business. Male and female mannequins are dressed in period costume of the Louis the 14th era, circa 1750. Signage in the lower central foreground reads, "Cavalcade of Fashion Through 250 Years. The era of Louis XIV was of extreme fashion elegance... powdered wigs, padded hips, and rich fabrics held reign in France where fabulous balls and fine manners went hand in hand. Such was Madame Cadillac's background but, she braved the hardships of a rugged country to be with her husband." The date and photographic sequence number are printed on the bottom of the recto, "7-10-51; 25243-x."
