Print. Black and white photographic print of the Cavalcade of Fashion window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store commemorating the 250th anniversary of the city of Detroit and Hudson's 70th year of business. Four female mannequins are dressed in the fashions of 1898. Neighboring the mannequins is a large statue and a mural of lush garden scene. Signage in the foreground reads, "Cavalcade of Fashion Through 250 Years. Gracious living was the keynote of this period. Fine gardens were the pride of the community, and ladies' clubs took an active interest in making Detroit a beautiful city. Here, in the lovely gardens, elegant fashions were in order. Resplendent designs and trims are to be noted... even to the ever-present umbrella." The date and photographic sequence number are printed on the bottom of the recto, "7-10-51; 25243-3x."
