Print. Black and white photographic print of the Cavalcade of Fashion window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store commemorating the 250th anniversary of the city of Detroit and Hudson's 70th year of business. Five female mannequins and two male mannequins are dressed in period clothing circa 1871. An Empire Organ is featured in the foreground adjacent to several of the mannequins; a large landscape mural is featured in the background. Signage in the foreground reads, "Cavalcade of Fashion Through 250 Years, Detroit was now a bustling waterway town. Steamboats chugged up and down the river and the wharf was a meeting place where news was exchanged. Fashions were very colorful, fine bonnets, slightly padded skirts, and elegant fabrics. Men's dress was a trend to the military for these were Civil War days." The date and photographic sequence number were printed on the bottom of the recto, "7-10-51; 25243-9x."
