Print. Black and white photographic print of the Cavalcade of Fashion window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store commemorating the 250th anniversary of the city of Detroit and Hudson's 70th year of business. Four female mannequins are dressed in period clothing circa 1905 and 1910 and standing around a picnic table in front of an aerial view of Belle Isle. Signage in the right foreground reads, 'Cavalcade of Fashion Through 250 Years, Picnics on Belle Isle were favored by young and old alike in the early 1900s. The beautiful natural park was important in the social and sports life of Detroit. Now fashions were more slender... designed for more freedom of movement. Hats were large and face-framing with gay floral and feather trims." The date and photographic sequence number are printed on the bottom of the recto, "7-10-51; 25243-11x."
