Print. Black and white photographic print of the Cavalcade of Fashion window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store commemorating the 250th anniversary of the city of Detroit and Hudson's 70th year of business. Two female mannequins and a male mannequin are dressed in period clothing circa 1786 and 1798. A harp is featured between the series of mannequins; a mural of a gathering of people is featured in the background. Signage in the foreground reads, "Cavalcade of Fashion Through 250 Years, With a newly established social life in Detroit, fashion took a new trend. Here was the Early American era. Uniforms, high boots, powdered wigs, heavily padded dressed reminiscent of the old world but with a definite American flavor. Musicales and balls were very prevalent." The date and photographic sequence number are printed on the bottom of the recto, "7-10-51; 25243-12x.
