One black and white photograph showing an aerial view of three small bulk carrier steamships that are anchored offshore along with a barge and two crane barges. The bulk carriers appear to be filled with sand or aggregate which might be intended for the construction of a water intake structure. A third crane barge is moored at the end of a pier and is carrying sections of large diameter pipe on deck. More pipe sections and supplies can be seen on shore in the background. The bulk carrier in the center foreground has the name, "Wyandotte Chemicals," shown in white letters on the side. A typewritten label along the lower edge reads "Clague Intake Pipeline - Cleveland, Ohio - 1956-57. 13,000 ft. of 96" diameter concrete pipe in Lake Erie. A temporary harbor of refuge for construction fleet built using 3 old lake freighters ballasted on the bottom. They were later raised." The construction work was done by the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation.
