Print. Black and white photographic print of an exhibition at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Featured in the foreground is a scale diorama of early Fort Pontchartrain, signage adjacent to the exhibit reads, "Early Fort Pontchartrain, The first move of the Cadillac party after temporary tent shelters were erected was the construction of a palisaded enclosure, for protection against possible attack by marauding savages. Another necessity was a warehouse for the protection of supplies. Under the direction of Father de L'Halle, the erection of a church was begun on St. Anne's day. Hence the Parish name, retained to this day. Other buildings were added as time allowed and need dictated such as, Ice House, Administrative Building, Barracks, Community Barn, Storehouse, Private dwellings." Also, featured in the background are mannequins dressed in various styles of period clothing. Ceramics, glassware, and housewares are also displayed. The photographic sequence number, company name, and photographer's name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "25249-6x; The J.L. Hudson Company; Photography by Davis B. Hillmer." Stamped on the verso is the photographer's name and address, "Davis B. Hillmer, Photographer, 8825 Second Ave., Detroit 2, Michigan."
