Print. (2 Copies.) Black and white photographic print of a window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. A mural of Smokey the Bear holding a fawn is featured; a rifle, and fishing pole are featured in the window display, along each side of the window display are images depicting the affected of forest fires, pollution, and erosion. Signage for National Wildlife Restoration Week, and reads, "The 13th annual observance of the week original established by Presidential proclamation in 1938, is sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation. The most urgent need conflicting us this day of eroded land, insufficient wildlife, polluted streams, shrinking water supplies, depleted mineral resources and dwindling forests is for a broad program of conservation education. These urgent needs will be stressed in Michigan observance of the week. Educational campaigns will be conducted by all Michigan United Conservation Clubs, all public-spirited organizations, and all conservation-minded sportsmen." Also, featured adjacent to the images on the left side of the window display is the Conservation Pledge which reads, "I give my pledge as an American to save and faithfully to defend from waste the natural resource of my country - its soil and minerals, its forests, waters, and wildlife."
