Black and white photo of the Chicago, Duluth, and Georgian Bay Transit Company passenger steamer NORTH AMERICAN, under steam on the St. Clair River, as taken from off its port bow. The photo has beveled edges, "AUG 59," printed in the bottom border, and rectangular holes punched in the left border to be bound into a photo album with a plastic binding comb. "'S.S. North American,' St. Clair River, taken Friday, May 29, 1959, from deck of Str. 'John B. Cowle,'" is handwritten on the verso.
