Print. Sepia-toned photographic print of a window display for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Depicted in the window display is a large mural demonstrating Ship-to-Shore Service from Detroit to New York City to a ship in the Atlantic. Signage at the center of the mural reads, "One of the most recent Telephone achievements... Ship-to-Shore Service... Enables you to call from any Telephone in Michigan to the ocean liners, Leviathan, Majestic and Olympic at sea and talk with anyone on board." Images on either side of the display feature the telephone operating services aboard the ships, Foreign Service switchboards, as well as images of the ships and brochures for sailing aboard them. The photographic sequence number is printed on the bottom of the recto, "13503."
