Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. A female mannequin is lying in bed, reading; the neighboring bed's mattress has been rolled up. Signage affixed to the rear of the display reads, "The Royal Magic Mattress of Foam Sponge, No spring - to sag, No Padding - to make lint, No Tufting - to catch lint, No Wire - to break, No Hair - to mat, No Buttons - to pull off." Also, smaller signage placed between the two beds reads, "Now You Can Sleep The 'Air-Conditioned' Way! The New Foam Sponge Mattress -by actual volume, is 85% air space and 15% Royal Foam Sponge. It's comfortably lightweight, too. Mattress, $49.50, Box Springs $39.50, Ninth Floor, Farmer." The photographic sequence number and photographer's name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "17987, Davis B. Hillmer."
