Print, Photographic

Black and white photographic print of a group of Boy Scouts from Detroit Troop 194, viewing the exhibition base of the Old North Church weathervane; which reads, "Help Restore Old North: The weather vane of Boston's Old North Church has twice survived Hurricanes which have toppled the Steeple, one in 1804, and again in 1954. Cast by Shem Drowne in 1740 it now awaits a new Steeple to replace the Spire destroyed by Hurricane Carol on August 31. One of the Nation's best-loved shrines of Liberty, Old North is famed for its role in the American Revolution. From its Belfry hung the Lanterns which started Paul Revere on his historic ride. Every American can help keep Old North Church a stalwart symbol of our Love of Liberty by contributing toward the restoration of the steeple." Typed on the verso, "1955; Exhibit in Round Hall, Weathervane from top of Old North Church, Boston, Mass."
