Black and white photographic print of a plaque affixed to a wall inside the Round Hall entrance of the Detroit Historical Museum, acknowledging those involved in the building project. The plaque reads, "The Detroit Historical Society, 1943-1951, Museum Building Project; Founded in 1921, the society established the Detroit Historical Museum, November 19, 1928. Collecting a building fund of $400,000 in 1943-4, sponsoring a charter amendment creating the Detroit Historical Commission in 1945. The society gave both museum collection and fund to the city of Detroit. The museum dedication in 1951, marked the successful completion of the first unit of this project, and a membership growth from 270 to over 3,000.
