Black and white photographic print of Ulysses S. Grant III, standing next to the affixed plaques to the Ulysses S. Grant Home on the Michigan State Fair Grounds; the plaques are affixed to the Greek Revival home in which his grandfather, President Ulysses S. Grant once lived. The top plaque reads, "Upon this house occupied by him as his home in the year 1845. The CITY OF DETROIT has placed this tablet in commemoration of Ulysses Simpson Grant then Lieutenant Later General, United States Army, and for two terms President of the United States of America, Savior of His Country." The lower plaque reads, "This One-Time Residence of Ulysses Simpson Grant presented to the State of Michigan as a Modest Monument to a Great Man, by the Michigan Mutual Liability Company, 1936." Handwritten on the verso, "Gen. U.S. Grant III, standing by the Grant House marker, Fair Grounds, Taken Winter-Spring 1950."
