The view shows a new concrete bridge deck under construction with timber formwork providing support on the sides and underside of the deck. Earth embankments for the depressed freeway can be seen on each side of the photo. Construction equipment and a crane can be seen on the project site in the background. A sign on a utility pole near the upper left corner shows "Oakland Southbound." Handwritten text on the verso shows "7-6-42, Oakland."
